Stanford Blood Center South Bay Donor Center — reception desk with brand signage wall

Stanford Blood Center — South Bay Donor Center, Campbell CA · "Give blood for life!" brand wall above reception desk

// The challenge

In 2018, Stanford Blood Center expanded into the South Bay with a flagship donor center in Campbell, CA. The challenge: move away from the sterile clinical atmosphere typical of medical facilities and create a premium, welcoming environment that honored the Stanford Healthcare brand.

// The strategy

  • Evidence-Based Design: Donor focus groups identified a "Modern Spa" aesthetic as the ideal North Star.
  • The Palette: Warm, grounding earth tones during donation; natural wood styling in pre- and post-donation lounges.
  • The Balance: Maintained rigorous "Stanford Blue" authority while softening the environment with organic textures and thoughtful lighting.
